At Mudgeeraba Special School our Health and Physical Education Committee plans sporting events that align with the Australian and Queensland Governments - Smart Moves initiative. This program aims to increase student participation in physical activity and the development of suitable activities in schools. Sporting activities at Mudgeeraba Special School can include whole school sports, Mudgeeraba Special School Fun Run, Mudgeeraba Special School Sports Day, fitness, dance and water safety.
Our school has a fitness program that is run by Mira. This fitness program is accessed by gumnut, star, and rainbow.
All students at Mudgeeraba Special School (Gumnut, Star, Rainbow and Diamond teams) participate in a whole school sports program on Thursday afternoons. Seniors run a similar but alternate program. Programs that students will participate in will occur within the school grounds or in the local community. The programs include:
Ten pin bowling
Gross motor activities
Students have been assigned to activities determined by their classroom teacher and based on their physical/ educational needs and future links to post school options as our student graduate from our school. Therefore, all students from one class may not be involved in the same activity or remain with their regular classroom teacher for this program. Some programs may require parents to pay a small fee (for entry into facilities) and perhaps nominated clothing items.
Mudgee Maddog is our senior inter-school sporting team. Maddogs play games throughout the year. This year 2011 Mudgee Maddogs become overall winner among the 6 special school.
